American Soprano Singer Renée Fleming will become the new artistic director of the Aspen Music Festival. She will share the Aspen duties with conductor Patrick Summers take over its opera program.
The music festival is held in Aspen, Colorado. Founded in 1949, the Object is to educate young musicians. Each year, over eight weeks from July to August, more than 350 events such as orchestras, chamber music, opera, contemporary music, music classes for children, lectures and discussions are held.
Fleming is currently 60 years old. Retired from the opera stage, she has been a consultant for the Lyric Opera in Chicago since 2011 and an art advisor at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
