LOS ANGELES 〓 Domingo will challenge a new role

The lineup of the Los Angeles Opera 2019/2020 season was announced. Among them, it was revealed that Plácido Domingo will challenge a new role. Challenge is Duke of Nottingham of Donizetti “Roberto Devereux” where baritone singers sing. Currently, Domingo is continuing singer activities from tenor to baritone. Since singing for the first time in New York City Opera in 1970, he was singing the role of Roberto Devereux so far. Duke of Nottingham will be the 154th role for him.

It is Davinia Rodríguez that sings Queen Elisabeth in this performance. In this performance she will make her debut at the Los Angeles Opera. Also singing Roberto Devereux is Ramón Vargas. Stephen Lawless is working on a new production. The conductor is Eun Sun Kim, and she also debuts the Los Angeles Opera.
