Herman Krebbers who long served as a concertmaster of Amsterdam’s Concertgebou Orchestra (now the Royal Concertgebou Orchestra) died at the age of 94 on the 2nd. In early the talent attracted attention, Krebbers was appointed joint concertmaster at the Residentie Orchestra in Hague together with his close friend Theo Olof in 1951. In 1962 he joined Orof to the Concertgebouw Orchestra and became a concertmaster. In the previous year, the Concertgebouw Orchestra welcomed the 32-year-old Bernard Haitink as a permanent conductor, and Krebbers supported its growth and laid the golden age. After his departure in 1980, he became a professor of the Royal Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam (now Conservatorium van Amsterdam). He also held master classes all over the world and devoted himself to training young musicians. Frank Peter Zimmerman, Emmy Verhey, Atsuko Tenma and many other violinists who are active in the world.
