After the Second World War, Hungary entered the former Soviet Union’s Array and surpassed the “iron curtain.” As a result, the presence of Hungary in Japan has decreased. In 1940, in order to celebrate the 2600 years of the Emperor’s history, the Japanese government commissioned overseas composers to create a works for celebrate.

This is an evidence that the Japanese government has recognized that “Hungary is a country with music.” The presence of composers such as Ferenc Liszt (1811 – 1886), Bella Bartok (1881 – 1945), Zoltan Kodaly (1882 – 1967), Hungary as a musical power at a glance.

This festival is one of the biggest music festivals in a music powerhouse. Established in 1981. In 2018, more than 40 venues including the National Opera, Bartok Concert Hall and Liszt Academy of Music will host about 120 orchestral, opera and musical, dance and art events.
