The largest music event in the United States. The performers are really diverse. Popular pop singers, folk singer legends, seasonal contemporary dancers and famous artists in the classical music world such as Luciano Pavarotti appear daily.
The music festival is long from the end of June to September, with nearly 150 performances during the festival and a lively 600,000 audience. The music festival was established in 1908. The music festival’s resident orchestra is the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, performing from mid-July to mid-August.
The venue is Lavinia Park in Highland Park, a suburb north of Chicago, about 30 minutes drive from central of city. There is “Lavinia Park Station” right in front of the park and less than 1 hour by train.
The main stage is called “pavilion”, an outdoor stage with a roof similar to Tanglewood Festival. There are lawn seats around the “pavilion”, where everyone enjoys a picnic. There are also two recital halls.
