Lipatti : Last Recital at Besancon 1950

Romanian pianist Dinu Lipatti (1917 – 1950) who died at the young age of 33 years old. At the end of that brief lifetime, he took off the doctor’s recommendation of stopping and appeared at the Besançon music festival in France. At the time, he was in the late stage of malignant lymphoma. “It was just like Jesus Christ heading for the hill of Gorgoda,” the physical condition was getting worse as his wife remembered later. Indeed, an episode that the physical condition got worse on the way of playing Chopin’s waltz, returning to the dressing room once, returning to the stage after having the injection done is also reported. Programs are Chopin’s Waltz, Mozart’s A minor sonatas, all the pieces he was good at. On the other hand, the audience of this day also knew that he had only a few remaining life expectancies. In a venue full of tension even in a nuisance, Lipatti will continue to play the imminent musical performance that can not be thought of as a morning sick person’s performance, only human beings who are about to die will play. However, the sound of transparency, the poetry full of dignity is still the music itself of Lipatti. Wear something noble image and impress the listeners. Two months later he was called to heaven.
