Interlaken is a small town with a population of over 5,000 located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. However, it is crowded all year round with tourists heading for climbing Jungfrau.
This is because the tourists heading to “Jungfraujoch Station” at the highest height in Europe (3454 meters above sea level) gather here. Tourists first take the “Berner Oberland Railway” from this city, then change to the “Wengernalp Railway”, and then change to the “Jungfrau Railway” to “Jungfraujoch Station”.
The music festival was born in this city in 1960. Academy for young musicians is held in parallel with the music festival, and there are many collaborations with prominent orchestras and conductors who appear in music festival, performers and participants in a academy.
In addition, the “EU Youth Orchestra” is organized with the Academy as the nucleus, led by the name conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, and is doing tours as well.
The Academy is currently organized by Zakhar Bron. Bron served as a professor at the music university in Lübeck, London, Zurich and Cologne from the 1990s. And under the guidance of him, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Daishin Kashimoto and so on was flapping.
Cello is taught by David Geringas, young musicians gather from all over the world seeking their guidance and intensively take lessons in small classes.
