Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) A music festival held in the city of Lakeside, Montreux and Vevey, for about two weeks from the end of August to the beginning of September.
Festival was founded in 1946. The final selection of “Clara Haskil International Piano Competition” is incorporated in the music festival.
The main venue is “Stravinsky Auditorium” in Montreux, as well as the Theater of Vevey, the church and the famous Castle of Chillon.
In the center of the program is the concert of the orchestra. Orchester de la Suisse Romande, Zurich Tornhale Orchestra, Swiss orchestra, as well as international orchestra guest performances. Soloists who co-star also have Malta Argerich, Lang Lang etc.
Montreux is known worldwide for its jazz festival, while Vevey is famous as the city where “Comedy King” Charles Chaplin spent his later years. Vevey is the city where Haskil also spent long time and was born Ernest Ansermet known for the establishment of Orchester de la Suisse Romande.
