In Macau, there are images of only casino topics in Japan, but cultural activities since the Portuguese era continues vigorously.
Its representative is this music festival. It was founded in 1987 and in 2016 it was the milestone of 30th anniversary. Approximately 20 performances such as classical music, jazz, opera, etc. will be held for about a month mainly in October every year.
The performance venue is six places, mainly at the Macau Cultural Center which opened in 1999. Among them are world heritage sites such as Don Pedro V Theater, Monte’s Fort and St. Dominico Church.
The Don Pedro V Theater has a beautiful hazard with a pale green outer wall and a magnificent Ionian column, with an attractive seating capacity of about 300 seats.
The St. Dominico is a Baroque church in the latter half of the 16th century and the Monte’s Fort is still proud of its military fortress built by the Society of Jesus in the early 1600s.
Opera’s performance is one work every year, 2017 is “Andrea Chenier”. This time the local orchestra entered the pit and was the style of performing the production of Torino’s Teatro Reggio.
The orchestra ‘s guest appearance is amazing, but this music festival’ s Charm. In addition to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra led by Andris Nelsons in 2017, the concert of the German Kammer Orchestra led by Pavo Jarvi is taking place.
