Winston Graham’s 1961 Novel “Marnie” is a psychological suspense that was made into a movie in 1964 by Alfred Hitchcock. The stage of the story was the United States of 1959. The main character dislikes men by abnormality by witnessing the place where mothers kill a man when young, and a beautiful woman with a trauma of stolenness Marnie. Her husband Mark struggles to save such a mysterious woman through marriage …. Nico Muhly (1981-) of the United States wrote the music this time and the script was written by South African-born British Nicholas Wright. Director Michael Mayer won the Tony Award in musical “Awakening of Spring” in 2007. His MET debut in 2012, Verdi “Rigoletto” replaced the stage of the story with the Las Vegas of the 1960s and called a big topic. The counter tenor, Iestyn Davies, who appears in the role of Terry is also from Broadway. Costumes are also Ariane Phillips who has long worked for Madonna’s stylist, a performance that MET seems to explore collaboration with the show biz world. He recreates the fashion of the 1950s and 1960s and adds neutral color lighting, creating a feminine atmosphere. Conductor Robert Spano is the music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and this performance was his MET debut. Isabel Leonard who played a mysterious woman successfully attracts the topic.
