Once people working in the music field get together, certain topic comes up: Everyone wishes to increase the classical music fans, and to invite more audiences to classical music concerts. But wait for a moment. No one has ever discussed whether everybody should like classical music in the first place.
I’m afraid that it might sound a vulgar (when I start this story, I always get scolded by the surroundings!), classical music is similar to sensual novels. Sensory novels must be boring for those who can not imagine something through reading what’s written, as they do not show naked photos or videos. On the contrary, there could be nothing more stimulus than such novels for those who can imagine a lot. After all people who get frustrated without image can not go with classical music. In other words, imagination is inevitable for classical music.
Let’s take a questionnaire from audience at a concert. I wonder how many of them were there aspiring bottom from their heart for those artists, program of the evening. Those who would definitely come to the concert if the artist performs this, no matter how expensive the ticket is. Probably 20%? That means, the rest of the people are coming for such reasons as high reputation, recommendation by other people, or simply through invitation, etc., even without much concern.
Some of those 20 % misunderstand the concert was carried out thankful to them, great aspiring fans. Even though those 80% people bought the tickets and made it possible to carry out their aspiring concert. Maybe some of those 80% people went there, but end up falling into sleep during the boring performance or play. It’s not a big problem for other audience around them unless they sneeze aloud. I even find taking a nap with wonderful music or performance : ultimate luxury.
Increasing the number of classical music lovers is not necessary connected to the number of audience at concerts. It’s rather difficult to increase the number of people who come to love classical music, as it is a matter deeply involved in the inside of individuals. Therefore, if you are merely looking for gathering customers to your concert hall, you should welcome those who are luxurious enough to sleep like a little baby with wonderful performance, and those who are willing to utilize concert hall as fashion show. Real classical music lovers should appreciated it, too.
