This music festival with the theme of “Music’s father” Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach was the music director of this city’s Thomas church from 1723 to the death of 1750.
The festival was founded in 1933 before the World War Ⅱ, and continued in East German era. Each year, the music festival is held for 10 days from Friday three weeks before Whitfield (Easter 7th Sunday after the Easter) and more than 70 programs are organized during the period.
In the East German period, buildings that were not tasteful of occupied the center of the city, but Leipzig prospered as a key part of trading since ancient times.
In the 15th century, a university was established following Heidelberg, a fairytale city where exhibitions and publishing cultures blossomed, and cultural people such as Goethe and Nietzsche have been active in this city. Leipzig has the Gewandhaus Orchestra, which is regarded as one of the oldest orchestras in the world.
